1st Malaysian Women to Scale Mount Hauyhash in Northern Peru

I recently was chosen to participate in an Expedition in Peru organised by a group of women called the Girls on Top team. I first read the article in the Star paper some 18 months back. It was really interesting article so I took their website address down and wrote to them if I could joined their expedition team for 2006. I was told the 2006 expedition was closed and they will write to me again in 2007 to invite me to join their expedition. I didnt hear from them for at least eight months until July 2006 asking me to write a postcard why I wanted to join the team. It was through a series of sending my proposals that I finally got selected to join them for their expedition in Peru. I still couldnt believe I was selected.

Just a little background about Girls on Top
Girls on Top (www.girlsontop.net.au) invite women with a sense of adventure, love for life and a vision to make a difference in the world to join them each year on their mountaineering expeditions to raise funds and awareness for their work supporting projects around the world that protect and enrich life.
Make no mistake though, Girls on Top is not just about travel. The project asks each member to put her own vision, her fears and passions into action; to make a stand for herself and her way in the world.
The whole journey, from creating the expedition to raising funds, speaking with media, inspiring others and preparing the body and mind, is an experience in co-operation, motivation, innovation and integrity. And in so doing, bringing about a positive shift in attitudes pertaining to that year's cause.

10-day Expedition in September 2007

This year, the Girls on Top team travels to Peru's magical Huayhuash region for a 10-day expedition.
The aim of this expedition is to create an environment of support, sharing, trust, commitment and dedication all in the spirit of happiness. A substantial portion of the funds raised will ensure Girls on Top's continual support of wild life rescue and breeding programmes implemented at the Amazon Animal Orphanage (www.amazonaimalorphange.org) and Zoo Peru (http://www.zooperu.com/)
What you can do to help me succeed in this endeavour?
In preparation for this arduous challenge, I have to undergo an intensive two and a half months practice training of scaling Mount Kinabalu in Sabah in appreciable time.
The mere thought of such physical and mental trials would be met with trepidation by most. It is especially daunting for one such as myself who is experiencing hyperthyroid complications. I hope to be an inspiration to others who may be undergoing similar circumstances. As the sole ASEAN representative, it is a privilege to bring Malaysia into this limelight in support of these worthy causes.
This year, Malaysia celebrates its 50th year of nationhood and my endeavour symbolises to the far flung world what Malaysia and Malaysians are all about.
Sponsorship
The sponsorship funds required for my training at Mount Kinabalu culminating in the main event in Peru is estimated at RM 28,000.
I am appealing to corporate companies, government entities, friends and family to variously support my endeavour with kind donations and sponsorships and other acts of encouragement.
All unused donations would be channelled to Malaysian Government sanctioned cancer awareness funds. Having watched my sister afflicted with cancer, shared her pain of battling it and experiencing the pure joy of her recovering, my mission to make this event a success has taken on a dual dimension and purpose.
I am therefore urging you to be my partner in this endeavour to be a bona fide Malaysia global citizen to help protect our precious environment, nature and our loved ones.
